Newsletter 3: 26th September 2014

Dear Parents/ Carers,

We’ve come to the end of another busy and exciting week. All of our Reception children are now settled into school and seem very happy and confident.

Thank you for your responses regarding payment for Christmas activities. If we share the cost of special events in this way, the school will have more money for books and equipment. More information about Christmas events will appear in future newsletters.

Earrings
Please ensure that your child’s earrings are removed on Tuesdays for PE and on Fridays for swimming (Years 4, 5 and 6). This is a safety precaution. Only plain, small studs should be worn to school.

Naming Items
Please ensure that all of your child’s items of clothing and footwear are named including coats. Even a name written on the label in biro will help us reunite lost items with their owners!

School Car Park
Please be considerate when parking in the car park. We are tight for space, so please pull up as close to the grass as possible. You will need to be patient when leaving the car park, especially if others are coming in at the same time: people cannot be expected to reverse onto the main road.

Healthy Lunches
The school provides healthy lunches for all children, which are free to all of Reception and KS1. Please encourage your child to eat school lunch if you possibly can.
If your child has a packed lunch, this should be healthy. Apart from the health issues caused by eating lots of processed foods (which are full of fat and sugar), children find it difficult to concentrate in the afternoon if they do not have a healthy lunch.

Reminder: Fun Day 2nd October
We would like to remind you that we are having a school fun day on Thursday 2nd October. The children will be allowed to come into school in their own clothes. Please encourage your child to stay for school lunch that day.

Supporting the School Through the Friends of Dame Tipping
I am looking forward to meeting you next Friday to discuss fundraising for the school. If you are a working parent, we would still like your help. Please email the office with your contact details and let us know when you would be available to discuss how you could contribute to fundraising events.
Even if you only have a little spare time, you could still make a positive difference. The meeting is on Friday 3rd October at 2.30pm. Hot drinks and treats will be provided.

Attendance
Well done again to class 3, Mrs McCormack’s class for topping the attendance chart again this week at 98.97%. This is a great achievement.

Let’s all aim to achieve 100% next week!

Lateness
Please note that from Monday, you will need to sign a yellow late slip in the office if you arrive after the door is closed. A reason for lateness will need to be provided. Please ensure that you bring your children to school on time every day.

Parents’ Open Afternoons
Apologies, but it has been necessary to move the Y6 parents’ open afternoon to Wednesday 19th November. All others remain the same. Please let us know if this new date presents you with any difficulties and we will try and accommodate you.

Commendations
Congratulations to all of these children, who have achieved something exceptional this week. Each of them received a certificate in assembly:
Jack Percival, Josh Ajayi, Aaron Hick, Tommy Randall, Nicole Mahoney, Oliver Mahoney, Mikey Snow, Conor Hazlewood, Krish Patel, Maansi Chagger, Ruth Airen, Dylan Alexander.

Well done, everyone!
