Dear Parents/Carers,

On Wednesday, Years 1 - 6 have been invited to visit to Broadford School for a *Go
Bonkers* afternoon of bouncy fun! The children will be taken to the school by coach after lunch and returned to school by 3.00pm ready for collection. Would you please complete and return the slip below to give permission for your child/ren to attend this event?

If the weather is wet, then the event will not be held.

Please note also that the Thursday clubs this week will have to be cancelled due to the Garden Party.

Dear Parents/Carers,

As the weather is so changeable and unpredictable at the moment, if the children arrive at school expecting to be skipping in the playground, but the rain arrives, we will take them into the hall for a “Five-a-Day” mini exercise program. This will run from 08.30 until the start of the school day at 08.55 am.

We hope that this will make it easier for planning your start to the school day!

Dear Parents/Carers,

School begins at 08.55 am. The children may come into the school premises from 08.45 am onwards. The bell is rung and the children enter their classroom to begin their day.

However, IF the weather is clear (i.e. not raining or worse!) then the children may come into the playground at 08.30 am where they can join a supervised “skipping club”.  If the weather is wet we would ask that you do not send your child into school until the regular time of 08.45 am. We do not have sufficient waiting area to

accommodate the whole school.

Please can you make arrangements to supervise your child/ren at the front of the school until the doors are open? We have received worrying reports of children being left outside the school at the gate with no adult, often for long periods. Some silly behaviour has been observed, and children straying outside the school gate.

We do realise that the parking at the front of the school makes this difficult but we are hopeful that the situation will soon improve. We are delighted to tell you that the council has agreed to lease us an area of land at the rear of the school on the field for us to use as an enclosed play area! It also means that we can place a hard surfaced area for the children to use when the weather is poor, and will free up the back playground for easier parking at the beginning and end of the day. Work should be completed on this during the six week summer break.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Congratulations to:

James Ithell

who won our school’s Lucky Diamond Ticket from Havering Council which invites him to be a guest of honour at two special events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Broadford Primary School have kindly invited us to “Go Bonkers” on the afternoon of

Wednesday, May 30th from 1.00 - 2.45pm

There will be 13 inflatable areas where the children can bounce and have a fun time getting fit! Years 1 to 6 will travel to the school by coach and be brought back for the end of the school day. (The reception year children will be on their trip on this day to Old MacDonald’s Farm. More information nearer the date!).

On Thursday, May 31st, the school kitchen will be preparing a special Jubilee Feast for school lunch that day, and that afternoon the Friends of Dame Tipping will be holding a very posh Garden Party! (Details will follow soon).

Due to the unsettled weather we are experiencing, we are setting an earlier Sports Day date (leaving time to reschedule if the event is rained off!). We will aim to hold the event on:

 Tuesday, June 19th at 1.15pm on the field to the rear of the school

As some parents/carers need to know school term dates well in advance for booking
holidays etc please find attached a sheet showing the dates (so far) for the NEXT school year.

The Kirkland Rowell surveys will be sent back for analysis on Monday so still time to return yours!

Friends of Dame Tipping Meeting!

Welcome back to the new term! I hope you all had a very pleasant Easter holiday.

Here are some dates for this term:

We will shortly be setting an early date this year for Sports Day!!! This will give us plenty of time to reschedule if the weather is unkind.

Also we will be sending letters out very soon about the after school clubs that we will be running this term. To be as fair as possible to all the children, we shall be initially limiting the number of clubs for each child to 2.

As many of the clubs will be held outdoors in this (hopefully!) fine weather on the way, we will be using the playground area at the rear of the school, so would ask you please to clear the area as soon as possible after 3.00 pm.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you all so much for the wonderful support you are giving the children as they raise money for our Lent Appeal.

On Monday, 12th March, Years 1 and 2 will be visiting the Bethnal Green Toy Museum and Class 1 will be having a visit in school from the N.S.P.C.C.

Just to remind you that on:

Thursday 15th March from 1.00pm

We will be having an “open afternoon”, where you can visit the school any time from 1.00 pm onwards, visit your child/ren’s classroom, let them show you their work and show you around the school. You may then take your child/ren home early should you wish. Teachers and teaching assistants will be available for a quick chat BUT if you wish to speak further with your child’s teacher then please do telephone the

office and we will be happy to make an appointment for you.

Parents/Carers of Year 5 pupils

On Friday the 6th July at 2pm in the school hall, there will be a Primary to 

Secondary Transfer Meeting for current Yr 5 Parents/Carers. This meeting, run by the School Admissions Team, will give parents/carers the opportunity to ask

questions about the process. The team will also able to give parents/carers an

indication as to where pupils from our school have been offered places in the

previous years.
