Newsletter 12: 5th December 2014

Dear Parents/ Carers,

This week, we have been busy preparing for our Christmas Fayre, which we hope will be a great success. Thank you to the friends of Dame Tipping, who have given many hours of their time. We have also started learning about Advent and organising our Christmas activities. We have lots of fun to look forward to, as well as looking forward to and preparing for Jesus’ birthday.

Cold weather
Now that the cold weather has arrived, it is important that they have warm clothes, gloves, scarves and hats. It can get very chilly on our playground, as your children have probably told you. Tracksuit trousers and sweatshirts will also be needed for PE. Please make sure girls have socks in their bags if they are wearing tights to school. All kit needs to be named!

Parking (again!)
Please could you avoid parking on the pavement, as this stops people being able to walk safely and forces them to walk in the road.

Miss Luxford needs to leave the school at 2.40pm each day in order to pick up her daughter from school. Please look out for her at this time if you are using the playground and avoid coming in at that time if you possibly can. Thank you for your understanding.

Christmas Lunch
Please encourage your children to have Christmas Lunch on Wednesday 17th December. It will be a very sociable occasion, followed by a Christmas film for the whole school. The children (and staff!) will be allowed to wear their own ‘Christmassey’ clothes that day. Christmas lunch is the same price as a usual school dinner: £2.10 and will be free of charge for all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils.

Arrangements for the trip to the Brentwood Theatre
KS2 children will need to arrive at Brentwood Theatre by 9.30am at the latest on 11th December for the performance of ‘Danny, Champion of the World’. The school will be open from 8.20 that morning if you need to drop younger siblings here first. I will be at the theatre by 8.45am, should you need to drop at the theatre first (depending on where you live). We will show understanding if you drop at the theatre first and younger siblings are slightly late that morning. The coach will bring us back to school by lunchtime, so normal lunchtime arrangements will apply. Please let me know if any of your children are not allowed to have ice cream, as there is a chance there may be some on offer!

Christmas Service
Please make arrangements, if you can, to join us for our Christmas service at St John the Evangelist Church on the last day of term. The service will start at 1.30pm and the children will go straight home from there. It promises to be a very special occasion.

Commendations
