Dear
Parents/Carers of Year 4
As part
of our homework regime in Class 1 we encourage pupils to practice their times
tables and spellings at home. Over the
summer holidays your child will need to practice weekly. They should aim to be able to recite their times tables at random, without counting up. With spellings,
tricky words should be practiced more often.
We will retest
the class when they return in September, and expect pupils to exceed our 75%
pass rate. Our high expectations in the past have lead to significant progress
being made, even with children who struggle in Maths and/or English.
To help
them practice at home I am including a times table poster and spelling sheet. Pupils will also receive a times table
practice sheet which they can use with you to help test them. Please follow the instructions on the test
sheet on how to fill it in. If you do have any queries please contact me at
school or via the email address below over the summer holidays.
Yours sincerely,
Mr R Evans
