25th April 2014

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you so much for all the support for our Lent Games during the last half term. We are delighted to tell you that the children raised a brilliant £319 which will sponsor the education of Fatoumatta and her little sister, Bintou (in the white dress!) in the Gambia.

Our non-uniform purple day also raised £97 which we have sent to the Epilepsy Society.

Diary Dates:

Monday May 5th is “May Day” and the school will be closed.

KS2 SATs week will begin on May 12th.

On Thursday May 22nd, the school will be used as a polling station and closed to the children.

Clubs will begin again on Tuesday, 6th May.

School Garden

Dear Parents/Carers

Part of our fenced off compound is being allocated for a new gardening initiative.  We aim for children at the school to grow their own fruit, vegetables and plants on part of this land. All classes will take part in this initiative and will be allocated an area to maintain.  We will also have areas for composting, mini-beast habitats, bird feeding and a fenced-off pond.

To make this a success, we are appealing to parents and the local community to donate any spare or unwanted items that would be of use to the garden area.  We would be extremely grateful for the following:
Any type of seeds
Gardening tools and gloves
Garden furniture e.g. benches/tables
Wooden pallets
Watering cans and water butts
Compost bins
Pots and containers
Fencing and posts
Etc,
I would like to thank you in advance for any help or advice.

Yours sincerely,

Mr R Evans

Year 6 SATs

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 6

I am now pleased to confirm the timetable for the SATs exam week:

Monday 12th May - English Reading
Tuesday 13th May - SPAG
Wednesday 14th May - Maths 1+Mental
Thursday 15th May - Maths 2

Each exam is in the morning, therefore please ensure your child arrives promptly each day.  If your child feels unwell on the morning of the exam, we advise you bring them into school just to sit the exam and collect them when it has finished.

The results for the SATs are released in July.  Each child will receive an exam level and a teacher assessment level for Maths and English.  The exam level is just one snapshot of their knowledge and understanding on that particular day.
If you have any further questions regarding the SATs then please contact me at the school.
Yours sincerely,

Mr R Evans
