Operation Christmas Child

October 16th 2012

Dear Parents/Carers,

“Operation Christmas Child” 2012 has now started!

Operation Christmas Child – sometimes known as the ‘shoebox appeal’ – is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project. Every year Operation Christmas Child is made possible through the amazing support of
thousands of children and adults. Please find attached to this letter a leaflet explaining how to get involved and bring Christmas in a box to a child for whom this may be the only gift they will receive.

Do visit the website at:

http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/

which has lots of information, videos and also an online gift box service!

The shoeboxes will be collected on:

Tuesday, November 6th 2012

With many thanks for your kind support,

V. A. Morris

October 15th 2012

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you can join us for our Harvest Festival on:

Thursday, 25th October at St. John’s Church at 9.00am

The service should take no longer than 40 minutes and the children will then be accompanied back to school by the staff to begin their school day. Would you please bring the children directly to the church on that morning at the usual time - 8.55 am - where staff will be waiting, along with any harvest gifts you may wish to donate to the elder residents of Havering-ate-Bower village. After the service, the older children at the school will deliver the parcels of food.

Mrs. Bimpong has kindly agreed to run a multicultural workshop for us on Friday morning (26th October). More details to follow nearer the day!

School will then end for the half term break. Teachers’ Training Day is on Monday, 5th November and the children will be back in school on Tuesday 6th November.
Parental Interviews will be held during this week as follows:
Tuesday 6th November 2012
Tuesday 6th November 2012 - Class 3B, Mr. Botha
Wednesday 7th November 2012 - Class 1, Mr. Evans
Thursday 8th November 2012 - Class 2, Mr. Drury

Next week, the appointment times sheets for these interviews will be out in the covered way as usual for you to sign. Please remember that you do not need to wait for an appointment to see your child/ren’s teacher or their teaching assistant. We are happy to talk to you if you have a question or a problem.

Yours sincerely,

V. A. Morris

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS! (take 2!)

October 12th 2012
Dear Parents/Carers,

I do apologise most sincerely for the mix-up with the school photographer’s visit this term.

Sue (the photographer) will now visit again on

Friday, November 23rd 2012

She will be here from 8.30am should you wish to bring younger brothers and sisters in for family photographs.

The photographs will be back in time for Christmas.

If you have already ordered the photographs from the earlier visit, you have the
option of either continuing with that order OR having your child/ren’s photograph taken again. Please let us know in the office (01708 745409) which you prefer to do.

On Monday (October 15th), the author Edward Trayer will be visiting the school to deliver a writing workshop to Class 1 and Class 2 during the afternoon. Signed copies of his books can be ordered from the school.

With many thanks for your understanding!,

V. A. Morris (Headteacher)

September 4th 2012

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the new school year!  We hope you all had a very pleasant holiday.

Congratulations to our school cook - Mrs. Harrop - on being awarded the GOLD
Standard for her meals! For just £2.00 per day your child can enjoy one of her award winning lunches.
Children do not have to “stay to dinners” for a complete week.
SCHOOL MEALS ORDER LINE - 01708 433119 - 9am-5pm daily.

School dates for the coming three terms are attached to this letter.

The new uniform is now available from http://www.tesco.com.
Go to clothing tab,
choose school uniform,
choose embroidery service,
choose “Havering” from the drop down list of boroughs,
click “D” and our school will be there to click and order.
The embroidery is now white on the burgundy items and we will shortly be offering burgundy ties with a white stripe to match.

THERE IS NO NEED TO PURCHASE NEW CLOTHING UNTIL YOU WOULD
NORMALLY REPLACE ITEMS. The new *look* will eventually filter through and be uniform throughout the school.

There is now an option for sweatshirts which, if worn, should be accompanied by a polo shirt underneath. No tie would be required for this selection. Very sturdy book bags are also available from this site with the school logo.

Thank you for your patience!

V. A. Morris (Headteacher)
